Khao Sok also shares
borders with or is near to other smaller national parks and
wildlife sanctuaries such as Kaeng Krung National Park, Khlong
Yan Wildlife Sanctuary, Khlong Saeng Wildlife Sanctuary (1,155
sq. km) as well as Khlong Nakha Wildlife Sanctuary.
With this amount
of jungle, this means that you have a very high probability
of seeing a large variety of insects.
Our
preferred method of exploring is by kayak. There are hundreds
of dead or dying trees that are the result of flooding the area
to produce electricity. A lot of damage to the environment was
done. What we're left with is pretty amazing. These dead trees
often harbor wood-boring insects, spiders, centipedes and other
predatory insects. You can paddle right up to the trees for
inspection.
Do
not worry if you have never paddled a kayak. It's very
easy. The majority of our clients are either first-timers or
beginners. We also have a fleet of very stable two-person boats.
If you are sure that you're not capable of paddling yourself,
we can put a guide in a two-person kayak with you to assist.
